Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

This week's video is in honor of His Royal Glamness, Adam Lambert. (Obsession nowhere near over.)

I give you the original version of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears. The video and song are actually fairly new to me because the TFF original was on their 1983 debut, The Hurting, and I didn't get into them until 1985's Songs From the Big Chair. (Then I lost interest with Seeds of Love in '89.) As for the Gary Jules remake, I had never heard that one until Glambert's cover because, well, I still haven't seen Donnie Darko. (Insert much tsking and gasping here.) Oh, I know, I know. I'll get around to it. Eventually.

I love how Roland has nothing to do during this video...but dance!!

I haven't seen Donnie Darko, either. S. Darko looks interesting, though, and we all know that you can't see a sequel until you've seen the original, so I'm thinking of trying to find Donnie Darko.
Red is 100% right. It was okay, but I would have liked that movie more if it hadn't been built up so much by people.
I've never seen Donnie Darko either. We can watch each other's backs.

Nope. Never saw Donnie Darko either. And after reading the comments here, I'm not too fussed that I missed it.

The Hurting is still one of my favorite albums. I bought it on vinyl first (still have it actually)...the song Change was getting quite a bit of airplay on KROQ and the college radio station I always listened to while growing up in southern CA. It was a catchy tune so I picked up the album and ended up loving it. Mad World was the second single, I think, followed by Pale Shelter? I don't remember. Anyway, just great, now I'm getting all nostalgic. lol I'll have to give it a spin, it's been a few years since I last listened.

I did see Donnie Darko, but I barely remember the song.

Thanks for sharing that. I hadn't heard the original version in years.

I didn't see Donnie Darko either and seeing it is up there with watching "Eraserhead" again.

They do an okay job with their song, but of course HE does it better.

I caught part of "Donnie Darko" while channel surfing awhile back. I'd like to catch it from the beginning because what little of it I saw was interesting. I have yet to see "Dirty Dancing" (another movie with the initials "DD"), so there won't be any gasps or anything from me.
