Toxic Art

Eegads. One of my readers wanted to know what I thought about the Britney-giving-birth statue. When she asked, I hadn't even heard of it. I really wish I was still in that glorious state of blissful ignorance. I really don't even know if I can say anything about this. It just defies explanation.

Here it is, for those of you who haven't seen it yet or can't get enough of it. Uhhh.....I'm really trying here. I just, I don't know. I'm not in "shock" because nothing involving Britney shocks me any more. I'm not "disgusted" because she's pretty much living above the limits of vulgarity at this point. And I understand that art is subjective, but come on. I don't think this is a point of view that anyone really wants or needs to see. Besides, it looks more like a sculpture of how Britney got pregnant, not one depicting the end of her pregnancy. I just don't get it. If that makes me an uncultured slob, then bring on the BJ and the Bear reruns and give me a Big Gulp and a bag of Fritos. That's "art" I want no parts of.

if they are going to make that sculpture, they should have orange tint on her fingers for the cheeto cheese...

I knew you'd make me laugh! I have no clue what the bear head represents but this is just too weird for words. I wonder if it does have a 360 view?? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I am with you on this one! I am just glad they didn't show the other end of it!
I am like you, I am not shocked at the things she does, but I do think she can't do much more to make herself any lower.
Ugghhhh!
I am sorry, it is not beautiful artwork to me.

I'm only glad this photo was taken from this perspective and not the other side. Small miracles.
I'm not entirely sure that Britney signed off on it, but here's the press release that I got off Lee Goldberg's site

It's really disturbing. Like a Dali painting...only with an added eew factor because its Britney.

From the tone of that press release it seems this is a big joke at the prolifers and Britney's expense. Especially the part about how the artist took inspiration from B's days as a pin-up and emulated the wax work figure of her at Madame Tusaude's.

If indeed it is a joke, its pretty damn deep (but still gross).

I remember reading it's a complete sculpture but thankfully I haven't seen that "birth view". I don't get the bear's head either, but I do agree this is more about how she got pregnant. shudder

From what I understand the artist has never even met with Britney, and her "peeps" ain't peepin'. I don't know what kind of statement this guy thought he was making but I doublt it will do more than embarrass the folks he thinks he's supporting.

PS - The "bear head" is part of the bearskiin rug she is giving birth on apparently...

I'm with ya, sister. Pass me the cheetos and a wine cooler - I gotta get ready if I'm gonna view that art.

Jesus Christ is that horrible!!! I don't even know what to say. Apparently the artist is trying to evoke disgust, what else could he be going for? I think young Brit is finally finding out what it means to be "famous". Here's to being a "nobody"! :)

Your bud,

Those wacky celebrites giving birth doggie style on bear rugs! I heard something weird about the sculptor making some 'pro life' statement with this. Britney birthed this child through C section so whatever art trying to immitate life this freakazoid is going for is completely lost.

Some very excellent and on point recent entries Beckster, you had a great take on that Idol rip off artist. Last week's melodramic Ace performance was ridiculed on this weekend's "The Soup" and it was ripe!
