Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

This week's video wasn't really prompted by anything special. I have just been scoping out YouTube and MySpace looking for videos that I suspect exist even though I've never actually seen them. I found a bunch by one of my faves, Supergrass, including one of their early hits, "Mansize Rooster." It's only 12 years old, so it may not technically qualify as a classic, but what the hell. I was still in college, which seems like a lifetime ago.

Why does it seem that none of this band's videos have seen the light of day here in the States? What, is the Department of Homeland Security protecting us against another British invasion? Oh, bloody 'ell.

Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any Supergrass videos in my country either. And god knows we need more boys in bathtubs.

You were in college twelve years ago? You're too young to appreciate Glenn Tilbrook; give him back.

Love Supergrass, though.
"Super" bands were the early 90s equivalent of "White" bands in the late 80s. Instead of the confusion over "Whitesnake," "White Lion," and "Great White," there was the "Supergrass," (Caught by the Fuzz, I believe?) "Superdrag," ("Who sucked out the feeling?") "Superchunk," ("Hyper Enough" finally got them significant video play), and "The Supersuckers." Supergrass got lost in that group to me, but they were always pretty good.

The guys in the tub was just a bit too much Brokeback for me!

Although I have heard of Supergrass, I don't know much about them. I really enjoyed the song and the video... which had a primitive, early MTV-era feel to it.

Not a bad song...

All I have going through my head right now is "Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub.."

I see someone else thought the same thing!

The lead singer looks like the love child of Mick Jagger and a Mon Chi Chi.
