Forgotten Classic Video(s) of the Week

This week's video is another request, so for those of you who are about to wrinkle up your little music-snob noses and groan, "Eeeeeew, hair metal," I've decided to torture you further by making this a two-fer!

First up is "Walks Like A Woman" from Baton Rouge's 1990 album, Shake Your Soul. When my friend, Duane, requested this, I thought he might have hit upon a song that I didn't know. The band name was only vaguely familiar and the song title didn't ring any bells. However, after finding the vid on YouTube, I remembered it (and most of the words!) immediately. I also remember liking it when it came out, despite the fact that I may have always mistakenly thought it was Whitesnake.

In trying to remember Baton Rouge, I kept thinking that they were the guys who did "Walkin' Shoes" (1989). YouTube to the rescue! I discovered that was actually another band that I didn't completely recall, Tora Tora.

I'm really craving vodka and coke now. And I ain't talking about a mixed drink, muthaf**kas!!!
*insert devil horns and heavy metal shriek here*

Far be it from me to wrinkle up my little music snob nose at someone else's request, but didn't you have any Drunky clips you could have played instead?

Hell no this is great stuff! It has inspired me to rock out with my cock out. The Friday at my office just got a whole lot of interesting...

I saw Tora Tora in 1992 in a club where it must have been like 110 degrees, but they were very good.
As long as you're going to dredge up horrible past memories of mine, why don't you just ask about Father "Grabby Hands" Clancy?

Where's the Saigon Kick? Is their love still on the way?

All I can say is you know some weird shit, lady.

I grew up in the UK where we didn't have such nonsense.

Ok, we had shite like Bucks Fizz so I can't really talk...

I tried to avoid the whole hair metal scene in the 80's-90's. Wasn't entirely successful, but I've never heard of Tora, Tora. Tora, Tora, Tora on the other hand was a fine, fine film.

I like hair bands for the same reason I like some country music pieces - there's a certain self-mockery in them that's sweet and sort of charming. And those formulaic tunes always have great hooks.

I love the hair metal videos. Tora Tora was one of those bands that could have hit it big had hair/pop metal lasted longer ... like Tora Tora's "Phantom Rider," "Walking Shoes" was a fun tune!

BR had another decent song, "Slave to the Rhythm," but I don't recall its video.
