American Idol 7 Results: 4/23/08 (Part Deux)

I watched most of the elimination show on YouTube today, and I've decided that Carly was gracious about her ouster. However, two questions:

1. What was she grousing about to Seacrest during Syesha's performance? I've never seen anyone do that while another contestant was performing. It was kind of disrespectful, don't you think? I'm assuming that Syesha has peripheral vision. It could've been rather distracting. Maybe that's why she went out into the audience.

2. Who was her "I remembered all the words" comment directed at? Was it meant as a dig at Brooke, or was she referring to her own mangling of the "Jesus Christ Superstar" lyrics?

Just based on vocal ability, Carly certainly deserved to stay over Brooke or Jason, but as we all know, AI isn't always fair*.

Even though Carly was one of my early favorites, she started to get on my nerves sometime after the two Beatles weeks, which is the last time I can remember her not loudly assaulting my eardrums. Therefore, I'm not that sad to see her go.

I'm also very happy that Jason and his bong are staying. Since it's become obvious over the years (especially during this year) that AI is a more of a partially-scripted reality show* than a talent show, why would they want to get rid of the most entertaining contestant?

By the way, I think I found proof that David Archuleta didn't come up with that pop ballad arrangement on his own. When Seacrest was talking to him about it, David stumbled over his words and called the arrangement "the thing." He was happy with the thing. You know, the thing. The thing that the producers dropped into his lap.

*Yes, I'm still bitter about Michael Johns' elimination. Thanks for noticing.

They should totally have you be the real host.

Unless they had to get a restraining order.
Awww! I know just how you feel. *gives you virtual pat on the head*
But yeah. This show is disgustingly hypocritical.
I must say Carly handled it really well though. Maybe she already has another contract or something.
And was it just me or did Castro actually YAWN backstage during the oh-so-tense results? He did, didn't he? He yawned?
Maan. Wish I could be that cool under pressure.

I didn't watch the whole thing in normal speed so I can't tell you what happened while Syesha was singing. But I can tell you about the kissing. Ryan was introducing the judges as usual and walking past them at the same time. He did something with Randy's hand (either slapped it or shook it), kissed Paula on the head, and then kissed Simon on the head. It was very odd and, for reason, I felt like jumping up and yelling "A-HA!!"

Not getting rid of the most entertaining would be a sound move for AI except that they didn't do that last year. I mean, who was more entertaining than Sanjaya? Even people who didn't watch the show knew who he was.

Wow, it's been a rough couple of weeks for you. First, your beloved Michael is offed, then, I TOTALLY BLOW YOU AWAY WITH MY ASTOUNDING PREDICTIONS DAYS BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN AIRS!!!

There, I feel better now.

To answer the questions BeckEye posed:
1. I want to think it was just an inconsequential yet poorly timed comment. Whatever it was, I agree that it at least looked disrespectful.
2. I think she was referring to herself.
Note that I like Carly (so call me biased) and that I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt (but call me objective, too).

To answer the question bloody awful poetry posed:
Yes, JC yawned during the results show. Bong hits can have that effect. Or so I've heard.

And a question of my own:
Do you think Idol gave David A. the arrangement he used this week, or did Daddy A.? I'm pretty sure David didn't come up with it himself. The kid can barely even speak.

Augh, I can't keep up with AI this time. It's just not the same without Sanjaya. Pout...*

From the rumor mill lately, Little David is a complete puppet for his scary, overbearing dad. I'd wager 10 bucks Daddy A has had all these arrangements in his back pocket for weeks.

I think Carly was talking about her flubbing the night before. Jesus Christ indeed!

I love it when they ask David A. a question, you can hear his mouth getting drier and smell smoke.

Carly has a nice voice. Lately, she was using it to scream & oversing. She got the boot. Go figure.

As far as David A., yet I'd bet it was Daddy Dearest doing his homework for him.
