RIP Jett Travolta

The new year is starting off on a tragic foot for John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston, as their 16-year-old son, Jett, died this morning after suffering a seizure. It was further reported that John himself tried to resuscitate his son, to no avail.

I wasn't sure I was even going to mention this, because I realize that the vultures and morons out there may find this post and invade the comments section with their heartless jokes and unfounded accusations, as they've been doing all over the Internet today. But I guess I just wanted to say something about it. Mostly, just that my heart really goes out to John and his family. I can't imagine how it must feel to lose a child.

Every parents nightmare and anyone to make comments otherwise should be shot. It breaks my heart.

I think people feel they can take potshots at famous people just because they're so accessible to the general public.

They may be rich and famous, but losing a child is a universal pain regardless of "status".

This is just tragic all the way around.

I am not certain of the condition that Jett had that led to his seizures, but as the parent of a kid that has them, I can tell you there is no scarier moment in your life.

It's a reminder that nothing, not even wealth and celebrity status, can ultimately protect anyone from tragedy.

My heart goes out to them.
My first thought when I saw the news was, "Oh, BeckEye must be bummed." Then, I made about 20 tasteless jokes in my own head, which isn't nice, but at least I didn't say them out loud for a change.
The death of a child must be the absolutely most devastating thing that can happen. My heart goes out to them.
Tragic..heartbreaking, really. Why others would make negative comments at a time like this makes it even sadder.

This is every parent's nightmare. Sadly, no amount of money or fame can protect you from this kind of tragedy.

Terribly sad.

I hate the way people think that just because someone has fame and fortune, they don't feel things like this. I've definitely seen some crappy comments.

very sad, famous or not famous...losing a child is heartbreaking and hard to understand. I hope the TMZ's of the world leave them alone and let them greive like any parent should have the right to.
