Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

I probably could've held off until Cinco de Mayo for this one, but Menudo's "Hold Me" is a perfect video for a glorious spring day like today. In fact, now that I have this song in my head and the weather is so nice, I think I'll piroutte all the way home tonight. I bet by the time I hit Midtown, I'll be able to get a bunch more people to join me.

I only wish I had worn something pastel today instead of boring black. Oh well.

To those of you who are yelling at your computers right now that this isn't a classic...how dare you! But yeah, you're right. But I'll tell you what is classic. That yellow 1/4 top that one dude is sporting. They just don't make shirts like that anymore.

Obviously, I'm just running out of videos. You people need to start emailing me some awesome requests.

So many snarkisms running through my head, where to start?

1. Is this when Ricky Martin was in the group? If so, is he the little kid in the pink shirt? At least one good hottie came from this group.
2. If the band's name is Menudo, does that mean they, too, are good for curing a hangover? Or that they are full of tripe and greasy meat?
3. The blond kid playing basketball - is that the mean jock from Karate Kid and all those other 80s flicks?
4. I am pretty sure I did that final dance in aerobics at least once in the 80s.

Coming up with some ideas for videos...will email you later.

Moxie,

1. Yes and yes.
2. The latter.
3. Holy shit, that does look like Zabka! They don't get close enough to him though, so I can't really tell. I think this was 1985, so I don't think he would've been bothered with a bit part in a Menudo video.
4. Didn't we all? It was good for the buns and thighs. (Speaking of buns and thighs, what about that dude playing basketball in gray underpants?? Holy moly. Only in the '80s. In Mexico.)

I feel just a little less manly for watching this video. I think I'll go sport a yellow 1/4 shirt and work on my car in the driveway.
Who said Menudo isn't a classic?

I am as "agnast" as my word veri.
Oh I am screaming at my computer right now all right, but not because of the video. I'm screaming at the thought that some people are enjoying beautiful spring weather when we are getting more snow. Stop rubbing it in my face.
I must have missed the whole Menudo craze - it was the 80's and I was probably stoned.
In my world Menudo is a soup made with tripe - but I enjoyed the image of the very high waisted acid washed jeans.

You shoot down my request of "Endicott" by Kid Creole and the Coconuts but you post this? :-)

Although it looks like William Zabka, I don't think it's him. I doubt very seriously that Kreese would allow one of the Cobra Kai to appear in a Menudo video.
