Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

It comes as a shock to me that I haven't posted this week's vid before, because it's one of my favorite songs of the '80s and, maddeningly, one that a lot of people don't seem to remember despite how popular it was back in 1985. Turn your speakers up to 11, go tell 'em Scotland's free, and immerse yourself in the epic fabulousness of Simple Minds' "Alive and Kicking." Don't you forget about this song.

I always liked "Waterfront" myself.

I also thought Jim Kerr looked like a mildly retarded person who liked his mum's eyeliner too much.

Every day I try to plant a different song in a co-workers head. Today when she asks me how I'm doing, the reply will be "Alive and kicking."

Yeah, I'm THAT guy.

I HAD forgotten about that song. Your work here is done, especially since Simple Minds is pretty high on my guilty pleasures list.

I put this song in my iPod three times so it will pop up more often. This one never gets old.

It got a lot of airplay here in Chicago on WXRT, our "progressive rock" station.

Another of my favorites of theirs was "See The Light," from 1991 or so.

I like this song, and I like Simple Minds, which pretty much clashes with the entire rest of my musical taste.

I'm really surprised that a lot of people don't know or remember it though...I thought it was a pretty titanic hit.

People don't remember this song? How can that be? The idleness of youth, I'm blaming

ZOMG! Blast from the past! I remember dancing around whenever this song came on the radio back when it first came out.

Who Does This Broad Think She Is?

I am a winsome muse who was sent to Earth to inspire an artist to turn a vacant building into the world's coolest disco roller rink. We fell in love along the way, and I foolishly gave up my immortality. When the disco craze ended and all the roller rinks were shut down, that lazy bum wouldn't get a job. We broke up and I was stuck on Earth with nothing to do and no one to inspire. So, now I write a blog.
