Thanks for the Music

In honor of Thanksgiving, all my posts this week will focus or reflect on some aspect of the entertainment or pop culture world that I am thankful for. First up - music.

Thank God for music. Music of all forms, genres, tempos, and languages. I don't know where I would be without it. True, there is some bad music out there, but I'd rather live in a world where I'm occasionally subjected to Britney Spears and Falco than one in which there was only silence. Whether good or bad, music provokes emotion. And who wants to live without emotion? Without music, I'm sure I would just be an empty shell.

And to those musicians who have filled my shell with beauty, happiness, heart, soul, sorrow, frustration, anger, hope, empathy, understanding, encouragement, and a myriad of other feelings - I thank you for your words, chords, visions and talents. You've created the soundtrack to my life. I'm looking forward to adding many more tracks.

Music is one of the wonderments of life. The story with special words not used in regular life.
Rock on!
Soooo, I shouldn't sing "Rock me Amadeus?"

My wife sent me this e-mail just now, and I wanted to pass it along because I totally agree:

"during my break i have been reading BeckEye's blog, which has been cracking me up. i have been reading through her top 40 list of songs and watching random videos she sends you to, then i thought of looking at the justin timberlake video, then the john mayer video, so all in all, lots of fun. and i would have sent you those videos but the jt one was basically given to us just in scrambled form, its not that incredible, and the jm one was ok, but still nothing special, just him walking along this boardwalk and some other guys doing graffitti, which riles me up... ha ha."

You do crack US up,

Blake

Blake, are you trying to suggest a threesome?

I'm confused though...I don't think I've ever mentioned a John Mayer video on my blog. Have I? God, I hope not. That guy is a schmendrick. He's no James Blunt, but he's annoying enough.

I think she was referring to the links that you provided that led to other links. I guess I should have just pasted the part about your blog cracking her up (and me too).

Yeah, sorry for Blake's lack of editing on my email he pasted without much cutting that I see... I had been wanting to tell you "in person" how much I enjoy your blog when I have a chance to visit, but he cut in front and stole my thunder, so I had to wait the allotted amount of time before I personally gave you my praise.

Blake can tell you that I don't have much of an attention span for the internet and "surfing" brings back memories of the forced piano lessons of my childhood. Blake's is the only blog that I read, usually upon notice that he has posted, and occasionally I'll follow a link or two to other people that post comments on his blog, but now I can say that yours is the only other blog that I go to on a regular basis.

So, yeah, I really enjoy your humor and observations, (you remind me of Susan Jane Gilman, author of "Kiss my Tiara" and "Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress") and the rest of the "pasted" email is in regards to our ephemeral obsession with Justin Timberlake and John Mayer and YouTube, all at the same time.

I think that I just out word counted chapter ten from your memoir,
