Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

Cable conglomerate bastards. I've resorted to blogging on my lunch break. Therefore, this will be quick because I would like to actually eat at some point.

I probably should've saved the Lone Justice video for this week, as I'm going to see the lovely and talented Maria McKee this evening. But, since I burned that one, and I have no bizarre songs bopping around in my head right now, I'll have to go to the news for inspiration. Need I look any further than Lindsay Lohan? I told you all she was trying to get herself thrown in jail for some hot lesbian lovin'!

I wonder if the "I'm young; I'm allowed to party and have fun" defense will help her out, should she go to court. That girl really knows how to celebrate her youth.

And there it is...my massive reach for a video! I don't think that Rick Springfield had young Hollywood in mind when he wrote "Celebrate Youth." Nope, not one lyric about DUIs and cocaine in there. This one's not only going out to Li-Lo, but to everyone who thinks that "Jessie's Girl" was Rick Springfield's only song (scum!) and Scott, who is a total geek for this song.

Ha!
Even I know he did: "For What It's Worth" with Steven Stills.
Wait a minute, there's a buffalo in there somewhere.
Never mind.
You know, every time the blog word mentions Ms. Linsay Lohan, she makes a dollar!
And don't forget Don't Talk To Strangers!

Guy had some deep, complex songs, I tell ya.

Sweet! I still have this song on 45, but I never actually thought to look up the video. That scarf scares me, I think it's evil... and I love the "jumping extras"...

Thanks!

Where the fuck did Lindsay Lohan go to rehab? At Robert Downey Jr's house?

I saw Rick Springfield in concert in the early 1980s. Sparks opened up. Rick hopped on the back of his guitar player; it was embarrassing.

Rick was good to look at for a good 5 years. I'll admit I had some posters on my wall but now he and Joan Rivers are in a race for the "tightest face" award. That man has had some work done.

I gotta say that "Jessie's Girl" takes me right back to "stoned in the high-school cafeteria" every single time I hear it. I don't care what else he wrote (holy shit, did he really write anything else?!).

I have to admit...I couldn't think of any of Rick's songs :( Nothing against the guy, but I get offended when I mention Bruce and someone says "oh yeah, he did Jessie's girl

hope your cable gets going soon...I think I would have withdrawls!

For anybody who thinks that "Jessie's Girl" was Rick's only song... they need to turn in their 80s card immediately!

"Celebrate Youth" is a real blast from the past. Some of Rick's other songs that I think are worth another listen are "State of the Heart", "Love Is Alright Tonite", and "Affair of the Heart".

Barbara's comments reminded me of another forgotten song of Rick's called "Bruce". It was an autobiographical song about him being mistaken for Bruce Springsteen.

Hey, Love Is Alright Tonight by him just played on my streaming radio, cool stuff
He did another song besides Jessie's Girl?

I probably shouldn't have said that, what with the cable rage going on and stuff.

Rick Springfield? Is he still alive? Just kidding. I think I have a record of his in the rarely ever if never listen to pile somewhere at home. Hope your cable/internet thingy gets fixed.

So much nostalgia. I remember thinking at the time I first saw this was that it was so appropriate for a soap opera star to make the leap to music, given music video.

This is not one of my favorite Rick Springfield songs but it was cool to see the video again.

That kid was in an awful lot of videos, I believe...

I don't know why, but I've always really liked his video for "Human Touch." Could be the post-apocalyptic thing going on or that the woman was pretty hot. Good song too. He tried to work it into his show EFX here in Vegas (didn't fit as well there.)
