Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

I was recently reminded of Slade's ginormous 1984 hit, "Run Runaway," from their best-selling U.S. album, Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply. Funny how a song can drive you insane from intense overexposure but, after a long absence, it's damn good to hear it again.

That blast from the past immediately put Slade on my blog radar, but I knew that "Run Runaway" wouldn't qualify as a "forgotten" vid for most of us. Then I remembered their follow-up single from that record, "My Oh My." Bingo! Let's all sing together, shall we?

By the way, isn't Noddy Holder one of the greatest lead singer names of all-time?

I loved Slade. I think I'll get some red pants and a yellow top hat with a huge peacock feather. Sometimes I call my wife the "Noddy Holder".

I think I have a Slade album in my stack.
Noddy is one of the best names in the history of best names. I'm going to insist that my first grandchild be named Noddy.

I rediscovered "Run Runaway" a while ago and burned it to a mix CD and played the hell out of it in my car for weeks. I'm over it now, but yes, rediscovery is so much fun.
I'd rather sing about chameleons lying there in the sun...only because I know the lyrics to that song.
BTW, check out Mamas Boys. Their version of "Mama We're All Crazy Now" wasn't so hot, but the rest of their material was. Especially "Needle In The Groove."
Run Runaway? What else would a runaway do?

That is a forgotten classic, indeed. Good pick!

Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply was one of the first cassettes that I ever purchased for myself (the other was the Scorpions' Love At First Sting.) It is a great album that many people overlook despite having two hit singles.
