American Idol Results: 4/10/08

Go ahead. Extend that middle finger.
Don't hide it, honey. They deserve it.

American Idol is all wrong and, no, it's not all right.

Dad, if you still read my blog, please shield your eyes.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?

Michael Johns is out.

I always knew that voting was pointless. Yet, I voted for Michael this week. Apparently, no one else did. Or at least that's what AI wants us to believe. I don't want to be one of those people who immediately calls foul when she doesn't get her way, but this is the most unbelievable results night I've ever seen in the history of this show. And it's not just because of my personal, all-consuming obsession with Michael.

If you read the blogs, Michael has a huge fan base. People are sick of Carly. No one really likes Syesha. Most folks think Kristy Lee Cook is a joke. And there they sit on the comfy couches while Michael sings one last time. Well, one last time on this sorry excuse for a show. He'll go on to bigger and better things, I have no doubt. BUT WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO LOOK AT FOR THE NEXT SEVEN EXCRUCIATING WEEKS???

Michael can't do a damn thing until this show wraps up because, Heaven forbid he have any success on his own that might take any focus away from the AI monkey circus.

Well, readers, those of you who don't like AI and, therefore, don't read my recaps are in for a treat. Because I will either:
A. Stop watching and recapping altogether
B. Continue watching and write shorter, nastier recaps
C. Continue watching and write recaps worthy of '80s-era Andrew Dice Clay

I haven't decided which option to go with yet. I'm too annoyed right now. I can't even fully enjoy the season premiere of The Office because I'm ready to put my foot through the TV screen.

He'll be back...

And he'll sell more records than whoever wins this farce.

I just about dropped my jaw. It's a fucking travesty that two of those girls sit up there safe AGAIN.

I vote for C - and then see how many hits (and agreements) you'll get when they google Idol and come across this site.

A fucking joke.

Pardon the language.

I vote C Beckeye, this is really a sham! It must be that so many people thought he was safe he wound up short on votes.

I feel worse for you now than I do for him. Quite a shocker!

I vote for C, as well.

I vote for C! That would be awesome. I am so sorry too! I wish I had something more to say but I'm at a loss for words.

I am stunned not only by the results, but how they did it...
when have they EVER announced two people as being safe at the same time....and then the "last time on Idol Cares we didnt send anyone home" bullshit...

If this is the show they want, they can have it....

C

Damn that Randy Jackson and his displeasure over the UNTYLER.

That's horrible!!! He was amazing!
Shows you what happens when the fans become complacent. At this point Krusty Lee is starting to look so shocked that she's still alive. Yet her fans (and Diareesha's) are rallying because they know their girls are in danger.

Sometimes love just ain't enough.

I just kept thinking, "Oh god, I wonder if BeckEye is okay right now?"

I am so very sorry. You are in my thoughts and prayers. And though I like the dread-head hippie boy, even he should have gone before Michael.

I am stunned.

How weird is this -- one of my first thoughts was "OMG, The Pop Eye girl is probably crying!"

To be honest, though, I liked Michael's pretty much more than most of his performances. The only time I voted for him was on Dolly Parton week, because he just wowed me. When he wasn't singing Queen, I usually found him "meh". But very pretty.

I hope you keep blogging because I really enjoy your sense of humor.

We'll be seeing Michael again! Hope he puts out an R&B type album.
Dude. Dude, I am so sorry. This is ridiculous. This is a joke. This is shit. This sucks carrots. I saw the results on the Yahoo homepage and I was like, No.Fucking.Way. Micheal does not deserve this. YOU do not deserve this. I am so sorry. I am in shock. I cannot even imagine how you must feel. I dread having to tell my mom now.
Oh and I vote for C too. I may not watch Idol ever again but I sure as hell will look forward to your recaps.
Hang in there buddy.
Jessica said…
Oh, man. Why do they keep letting Kristy stay???
Bar L. said…
I vote for C too. I noticed you didn't ask for a vote but your public is begging for it!

I am really sorry that they are so stupid. Now that you don't like them I feel ok putting them down :)

Good riddance to the smug Aussie. I love the dazed look on his face when he realised what was happening.

Sorry about that.I thought Seacrest was going to let him off at the very end. :-( .
Anyhow I want C.

Rough night for you. But if the fans don't vote, then the guy goes home.

You know I call it the show that shall not be named because of the way they dis my guy from season 5, and he was the winner. It's the nature of this show.

Take care.

I have *never* voted in all of my years of watching...until Tuesday night...then, I voted 5 times for Michael.

They suck. Ryan sucked for handling it the way he did.

I vote for "C".

Hi All. He REALLY wasn't all that great but quite the entertainer. Its too bad, but the show must go on. Krusty needs to go, and smug "Full of herself" Snydesha needs to be next. After all....Shes a "WORKING ACTRESS!" Whatever!

Complete and utter bullshit. I'm just...stunned.

My condolences. I was actually thinking yesterday, "What will BeckEye do when that fine piece of kangaroo steak gets the boot? Oh, I won't worry about it, we've got weeks and weeks." Now I feel like I somehow psychically contributed to the demise of the only Idol worth fantasizing about. Fucking farce. Again...my thoughts and prayers are with you in this sad, sad time.

I just hate to see you suffer so, Beckeye. In fact I left blogger retirement to commiserate.

I hated that Seacrest attempted to mislead Michael into thinking that no one would be voted off during IGB week. Cruel. I had no idea he had such sadistic qualities.

Sorry, Beckeye. I feel your pain.

C would be pretty sweet.

After reading your recap, I wish I'd seen this week's show. It seems they actually sang several songs I really like this week.

I never vote after American Idol goes off. And I mean never. But I always voted for Michael Johns. He was the best talent on the show. Hands Down. It's a conspiracy.

For BeckEye"

Goodbye Michael John
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
Randy whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they kicked you off the show

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the votes came in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a viewer
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend never did

etc...

I think you should aim your poison pen at the 'tweens. They did this to him

Bindy Irwin is probably looking for back up singers.

I started to come by here last night to see if you were ok. I knew there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth all over the blogosphere.
I am sorry to see Michael go. I really thought it was going to by Syesha this week. I don't know where her fan base is coming from, but it can' hold out much longer. Console yourself with the knowledge that many non winners are having much greater success than winners. You will hear from Michael again. It just might be a year.
Again sorry your Idol is gone.

I was thinking last night when he was in the bottom 3,"Is this allowed? Beckeye going to freak!" I was stunned when he got the boot. I was beginning to think he could win it all. Sorry.

I was thinking of you as I watched the show last night. It was shocking to me that it wasn't Castro going home instead of your beloved Michael.

I will certainly miss your snarky yet accurate recaps if you give up.

What kinda shit was that? PPffttt. And what was up with Ryan being a dick about it? I'd like to kick his other knee.

Muahaha, my phone autodialer WORKED.

Just think Becks, he's free of recording contracts now to come and 'visit' you.

'Visit' is a codeword for 'have sex'.
Amy said…
Well, I called the bottom 3. But I was shocked that it was Michael going home. I thought sure it would be Carly after several straight weeks on the floor.

I agree that Syesha and Kristy are both well past their 'good before' dates and need to go home. I disagree with you about Carly but Michael should not have been the loser this week.
I never watch the follow up shows, and I missed Michael's performance on Tuesday. But I thought Syesha was toast for sure.
The Guv'ner said…
I expected your journal to be just black and blank today in mourning. :(

So are you cranky or what?
Claire said…
I also felt worse for you than I did for him. Tuesday was the first night that I've watched this year, so I turned on the results show last night at 8:50 and I nearly fell over. Your obsession notwithstanding, I agree that he'll end up more successful than whoever wins this hot mess.

Krusty Lee should never have made it past Hollywood week when she trotted out the same arrangement of Amazing Grace - that choice alone should have raised red flags for Nigel and the judges, but it may be that Simon wasn't thinking with his brain at that point, as he seems to do from time to time

I think that they have been making a concerted effort to counter the "VFTW effect", but the continued presence of KLC and the ouster of more talented individuals shows that they still have a lot of work to do in this area. Not sure what they can do, or if anything can be done to fix it

I honestly don't think Michael would have won this competition had he stayed, but there are other people who should have gone before him.

It was the ascot.
Knew you would be pissed today...as soon as it happened i thought of you and my friend Julie and said "rut ro...they gonna be pissed"

I think he straying from R&B might have hurt...he will do well..

but as Travis said...after the way they are treating the winner of Season 5 - nothing shocks me about that show...
Alice said…
OH NO. becky, i'm so sorry. what a shock. he was still so young, still in his prime.. :-)

i totally vote for extra mean recaps moving forward.
My heartfelt sympathies - flowers and a cheese basket are on their way.

Ooops, didn't read down far enough. Please read my comment on the previous section. :-(

I came as soon as I heard. Can I bake you a cake, or something?

Hey Beck, I'm sorry your guy got booted off AI I lost interest in the show years back when a favorite of mine got booted, and some jackass won. I do hope you keep reviewing it though, cause I really enjoy your recaps!!!!!!!!
Moxie said…
I read the news on Yahoo and, like many other commenters, instantly thought of you.

I vote for snarky recaps, because reading your recaps of any show is very fun. I wish you were covering "Top Chef", actually. Those kids are nuts and need to be julienned in Beckeye fashion.

Wow, the Marquis de Sade has nothing on Seacrest. He has always teased the contestants about going home like he's hosting To Tell The Truth, but he took it to a new level this week. I think it seemed meaner than he intended because he seemed to be stumbling over words and maybe losing his train of thought.

In any event, Syesha should have gone home. At least you'll have less competition for his affections! Nobody wants to do Mr. Eighth Place :)
