Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

This week's video is a special request from the Frick to my Frack, the yin to my yang, the Beavis to my Butthead - my best pal, Angela.

Hard to believe that it's taken me this long to post a Wham! video. I suppose if I ever would have, I'd go for the super-old and supremely cheesy "Bad Boys." But, since I'm honoring the request, you're all getting "I'm Your Man" to kick off the weekend. This came from 1986's Music From the Edge of Heaven, an album that marked the end of Wham!'s brief career, and the beginning of Andrew Ridgeley's life as "that other guy."

This song would've been another good choice for Michael Johns to sing on American Idol's '80s Week, but the crushing weight of the sexy in that performance may have caused me to pass out and wham my head off of the coffee table. I'm sure his concern for my well-being is precisely why he sang something else.

Rule #1 of blogging: "Wham!" and "Classic Video" can't go in he same post. That's a 15 yard penalty, loss of down, second down.

God I love this song. I needed that. Thank you.
Wham was so much fun!

How about Michael Johns singing Father Figure, Becks? What would that do to you? I think I might melt a little myself.

This won't sway me from my opinion, however, that the best Wham! song ever is "Wham! Rap."

Wham! Bam! I am... a man...
Job or no job you can't tell me that I'm not...
Do... you.. enJOY what you do...
If not, just stop...
Just say no and ROCK!

Man I love me some Wham!

(oops - I just googled the lyrics and the last line is actually "don't stay there and rot!" wtf? anyway... I like my version better.)

WHAM! cheese factor aside aside, George Michaels is hands down one of the best vocalists in pop n roll today.
What I love about American Idol is the way it's given us so many classic, timeless artists like Wham!. There was That Fat Black Guy, That Fat Black Woman, Taylor Hicks, and Probably Some Skinny Blonde White Girl.

Now, that's a blast from the past! My favorite song from that album is "Battlestations". I'm going to break that CD out and put it on my iPod now!
Have you really never posted a Wham! video before? Shocked I am, missy! Why you damn near went to purgatory for that oversight.
I had french fries for breakfast. *beams*

Also thanks sooo much for keeping up with the AI recaps, even though it's obvious you don't really want to. It is much appreciated, dude =)

Wham! definitely has it's place in cheesy pop history. I completely forgot about this song - Thanks!!

Ah, the 80s. This video reminded me of something I hated about the 80s - the way some music videos would have a minute or two of "acting" before the song started. A relic of the time when videos were a new "art form" instead of just four minutes of popping champagne and undulating asses.

Thank you, thank you! Sorry this comment is late, you know I busy I am! LOL. Anyhow that song (and video) have been in my head for weeks. You're the best. :) I would totally LOVE to bring George back from the "dark" side. And when I say dark, yes I mean the behind. He's still lovely after all these years.

Love ya!

It should have been titled, "I'm your man. And you're my man, too".
