I was on an '80s kick yesterday (imagine that), so I pulled out a bunch of my '80s compilations for a listen. I sometimes avoid those store-bought compilations because most of them include the same tired old songs ("Jessie's Girl," "Come On Eileen," "Mickey," you know the drill). However, I discovered that one of my New Wave Hits CDs included "Some People" by Belouis Some, a song that doesn't immediately come to mind when I think of 1987. I remembered it well though, and even remembered that it was featured in a Swatch ad, which I, unfortunately, can't find anywhere.
I didn't remember that Belouis was such a cutie. Well, sort of. At some points during this video, I think he looks like a blond A-Rod. But at other times he just looks like Jay Manuel. Still...if I were a gay man, I'd be all over Mr. Jay, so I guess old Belouie looks pretty good either way.
As for what is going on in this video, I can't quite grasp the concept. Some people are dancing. The old people aren't. I guess there's a message in there somewhere. But it just kind of looks like all the people who didn't make the cut for the "Safety Dance" and "She Works Hard for the Money" videos were assembled to film a musical remake of Carnival of Souls.

I definitely remember this song. May I suggest Tony Carey's "Fine Day" as the next Forgotten Classic Video of the Week (?).
