Forgotten Classic Video(s) of the Week

I dropped the ball on the classic video again last week so, this week, I'm bringing you another Two-fer Tuesday!

When Moxie recently requested A-ha's "Hunting High and Low," I did a quick search of my blog and was surprised to discover that I had never posted their follow-up to "Take On Me," "The Sun Always Shines On TV." I quite liked A-ha back in the day, mostly because I had a huge crush on the keyboardist, Mags Furolooder...or Froomshenolden...or Flurmenschnorgel...or something that was much harder to pronounce than "Nick Rhodes," which could be part of the reason I stuck by Nick even when he started wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye Bakker.

Aside from mega-hit, "Take on Me," these two songs pretty much wrap up the A-ha catalog. I'm sure they recorded other songs, but I doubt any of my regular readers could name one...unless your last name ends in "oo" or contains one or more umlauts.

"Hunting High and Low"

ETA: Okay, so I had originally confused "Hunting High and Low" with "The Living Daylights." (You can understand why I'd be confused, right?) Thanks to the British, non-umlauted Imaginary Reviewer for setting me straight. I'll bet he has some Norwegian blood flowing through his veins. I've actually always imagined that he looks kind of like Thor.

OK, you just cinched it for me. I am heading to court to change my name to Flurmenschnorgel.

Ha! The Irish band that played the bar I went to on St. Pat's played "Take On Me" in the middle of the night and we all died laughing. Really, Irish band? Really? You're playing an A-ha song on St. Patrick's Day over say, Molly Malone? Good times.
Ahem, Beckeye: Aha's Bond theme was "The Living Daylights". It was ace.

The first non-spoken word/cartoons singing album I ever owned was an Aha cassette. I was very disappointed as it didn't have 'Take on Me' in it. It was called Stay on These Roads and the title track was also a single (and minor hit in the UK). They also did a cover of Crying in the Rain, but that was at the point when they were losing their relevance in my home country.

The high notes in Take On Me kill me.

My sister used to have A-ha posters on her wall when I was just a small child.

Haha, made you feel old!

GET OUT!!!! I'm a huge a-ha fan! HUGE!!!! And, yes, I do own their post-80's CDS, which are all fabulous. Especially Minor Earth Major Sky, East Of The Sun West Of The Moon, and Memorial Beach.

*SQUEEEEEE!!*

Someone in blog world finally did an a-ha post! My life is now complete. Woo-hoo! :-)
A forgotten 80's classic from a-ha!
Oh how I miss the innocence of those days. And the mullets....?Those pretty much deserve to be forgotten.

I harbor an unabashed love for all things A-ha and 80s related. That is all.
Now Beckeye, this is exactly the kind of anti-Norwegian sentiment I'm always trying to combat. Our last names don't end in 'oo' - they end in 'stad' or 'sen' or sometimes (if they're damn near Swedish) 'son.' I'm going to flag your blog as hate speech.
I'm not gonna lie, I've kinda always had a soft spot for The Sun Always Shines on TV. I don't remember ever seeing that uber-groovy video before, though.
