Oh Where, Oh Where Have My Little Celebutards Gone?

I always get into a bad post-Idol funk, but this time is much worse than usual. And you know why? Because celebrities aren't being completely ridiculous. Did they all decide to take the month off? WHAT IS GOING ON?? I at least thought Paris or Lindsay would be here for me after Idol wrapped, but nooooo. They're suddenly model citizens.

Unless I've just been obsessing over Adam Lambert too much to notice any Hollyweirdness. It's possible.

Well, for lack of anything better to post, I thought I'd introduce you all to some new music. (If you've already heard it, well good for you for being so hip. Just shut up and listen to it again. I'm on edge here, people.)

My good blog pal, Falwless (can you still call someone a "blog pal" if they've semi-retired from blogging?) told me about this new "super group," Tinted Windows, which consists of singer Taylor Hanson (Hanson), bassist/pop tunesmith extraordinaire Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), guitarist James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), and drummer Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick).

I'm kind of embarrassed that I hadn't already heard about this band, mostly because I had to hear about it from Fal. If you know her at all, you know that she has pretty awful taste in music. The music that she's heard of, anyway. Girl's not exactly in touch. I'm pretty sure she thinks that Robert Plant is the guy who sings "Addicted to Love." Or a famous botanist.

Anyway, take a listen to Tinted Windows' stuff on their official website and let me know what you think. I assumed that, because of Schlesinger's involvement, their music would be extremely catchy, and it is. I'm pretty excited to hear more.

And now I'd like to address Taylor Hanson directly, if I may:
Wow. GOOD job growing up, kid. Hot damn.

Wai.. wait a minute. Robert Plant doesn't sing "Addicted To Love"? What the fuck.

I'm not as think as you dumb I am, bitch.

That sounded mean. I meant it lovingly.

I've never heard of them before either, but you're right - catchy stuff! Me likey.

And I know what you mean about Taylor Hansen. I was sure the Hansens were all going to grow up to be the f*ckwits most child celebrities are (or like Denis Leary put it, "one giant rehab festival just waiting to happen.") But no. Kinda bizarre, huh?
Oh hey now, a grown up, Hanson?

I thought all they were doing lately was procreating.

I am mildly ashamed to admit that I own two Hanson albums, but damn it, they are catchy!

I love Fountains of Wayne as I can just leave them on repeat and tap my toe over and over. I have a particular fondness for "Bright Future in Sales"

I know what you mean by post-Idol funk even though the only way I can bring myself to follow along is by reading your recap. Flannery has taken to shuffling through the house in a zombie-like haze and continues to shout at the tv even when it isn't on. I don't know who she was backing for the winner but it wasn't the widower.

Thanks for the heads-up on Tinted Windows. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have purchased any new music at all and would have been satisfied listening to Tina Turner's remake of Disco Inferno over and over.

Doc

P.S. My Word Verification was "mendel" like the composer. I wonder what that means?

Beckeye, I had my eyes on the Today Show all morning looking for you and your sign since you boy was going to be crooning for the crowd. Did you make it?

The second Hanson album is awesome. Seriously. Listen to it! (The third one isn't bad either, but the second is definitely their best).

All that to say, I've known about Taylor's gorgeousness for years now. I win at life!!!

Has Led Zeppelin done anything new lately?

Signed: Mr on top of it all!

Taylor is the one that looked like a girl, but you're right he's pretty hot now!

I'm pretty sure I'm even less hip than Fal.

It isn't just post-Idol blues. Bloggers are dropping like flies.
I just can't allow you to use the term "super group" with that lineup. They are a band...a super group is made up of superstars

These guys are competent, but superstars...nope

Catchy, but not even as catchy as "Addicted to love". I'm not a big Robert Palmer fan post Sneaking Sally Through The Alley. But I am one of the biggest fans of Sneaking Sally, Ever. One of my most favorite favorites. A true funk classic. Any chance that could be a request for your forgotten videos?
Dude,Taylor is pretty. I mean, Pretty. I mean, real Pretty.
Also I listened to Tinted Windows like, 3 weeks ago. So HA!
I am always suspicious of superbands, but for you, I will take a listen.

I'm with Red, I always thought he was hot.

The music is catchy and cute. I won't be rushing to Best Buy, but it's good. :) Thanks for sharing.

I am totally, totally a fan of Tinted Windows, mostly because I am/was a big fan of each group that donated parts to this new outfit.

That said, when I first put the CD on in my car and my daughters (9&8) were in the backseat, they heard "Kind of a Girl" and said, "Is this the Jonas Brothers?"

Ow.

Unfortunately, it's not far from being a fair question.
