Bring It Arooooound Town

Folks, a very important birthday is upon us. Spongebob is 10!

Whoa, that just sunk in. Holy (foghorn), I feel old now.

Well, the body may be decrepit, but I'm still a child on the inside - and that child is very excited for this weekend's Spongebob marathon on Nickelodeon, and the brandy new documentary on VH1 tomorrow night! YAY! I'm ready...I'm ready...I'm ready...I'M READY!

In honor of Sir Squarepants, I would like to show you all a clip from the funniest Spongebob episode EVAH - "Band Geeks." If you haven't seen that one, you must immediately find it and watch it. It was the episode that got me hooked on the show. Of course, I'm giving away the ending, which is the best part, but trust me. There are so many great moments and quotes in it that you should really watch from the beginning.

Whoever is the owner of the white sedan, you left your lights on.

I agree, Band Geeks is one of the absolute best episodes of Spongebob.

I am "uncabled" for the mo'... can't write and watch at the same time. I don't really remember much of SpongeBob from Ky's littlehood, but I'll bet I can still sing the entire "Bob the Builder" theme song. Catchy tune.

PS - Come over to my place and see my 85-year-old mother flipping the bird.
Dude, Spongebob is like Awesomeness cartoonified! And you won't believe the amount of shtick I deal with for being a fan of the show.
I Loves me some Spongebob! Actually, I'm a HUGE Plankton fan.
Never connected with Mr. Pants...

But have many friends who think he rules

Somehow, we've mostly dodged the SBSP phenomenon. My girls are 8 & 9 and came in a little late to the party, and I was forced under threat of divorce to give up almost all animated programs in my fourth year of marriage back in 2000. (Yeah, it's messed up, but show me a marriage that doesn't have some totally random and screwed-up compromises!)

Still, gotta give the sponge his props. Not even Michael Jackson would be famous for having his likenesses repeatedly stolen from the rooftops of Burger Kings across the nation. These crimes are almost crop-circle-like in their randomness.

We're a HUGE Sponge house!!! Our favs are anything with The Flying Dutchman in it. Brain Doyle Murray rocks that character.

I cannot believe it, I remember when he was a newborn sponge, and all the hype leading up to his debut. Time flies.

I have far too many favorites..."Band Geeks" is my 8 year old's all-time favorite episode. I love it too, but "Sailor Mouth" and "The Inmates of Summer" are my favorites. If you haven't seen them, get hold of them immediately. Oh and don't miss "The Algae's Always Greener"..."Corporate casual!"

OK, I'm done now. Except I love the line in "Band Geeks" when SpongeBob says "Larry...when your heart gave out from all the tanning pills, who revived you?" and Larry says "Some guy in an ambulance". Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

OK, really enough.

I love S'Bob too. My kid can't stand him though - she gets a headache everytime she watches it.

Clearly, she's much more mature than I.

Oh freaking well.

Btw, I think my favorite episode is the Inflatable Pants one.

"You taught me a valuable lesson. Although, I'm not quite sure what it is." *snicker*

Hahahaha! Bring it arooooound town . . . I loved the square-pants'd one early. All my friends thought it was the pot talking, even after I made them watch a couple episodes. My people apparently don't appreciate quality comedy.
