Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

This week's vid was inspired by John Hamm. (Mmmmm....Haaaam.) I recently caught his second SNL hosting gig on a rerun and nearly died laughing during the "Sergio" digital short. My brother J-Fred couldn't understand why I thought it was that funny, and I kept trying to explain (while hyperventilating), "That's a real guy! The guy from The Lost Boys! Tina Turner's sax man!"

J-Fred only vaguely knew who I was talking about, but I'm sure all of you '80s kids know who the real Sergio is, too...even if you don't know his real name. I couldn't remember it either, but when I looked up some vids to send my bro, his identity was revealed: Tim Cappello. Not quite as catchy or fitting as Sergio, eh?

Anyway, knowing that Tim played with Tina Turner, I looked up some of her videos and happened upon one from the Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome soundtrack. Strangely, for as many references to Thunderdome that I make in my life (honestly, way too many), I remember very little about that movie and the only Tina Turner song from it I could recall was "We Don't Need Another Hero." But thanks to Tim Cappello, Sergio and YouTube, yet another cobweb has been cleaned out of my dusty ol' attic. Welcome back to my brain, "One of the Living!" I always quite liked you.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch the Sergio short here. And here's a funny vid someone created from Tim's scene in The Lost Boys, edited to make it look like Jason Patric is mesmerized by that saxy package.

Oh thank GOD! I thought I was the only one to suffer from the curse of the "Sergio"!

Jon Hamm was hilarious; both the "Sergio" sketch, and the Senator Scott Brown sketch just about killed me. I'm easily amused, but still.

I didn't know there was a real Sergio and don't remember him at all, but that skit was hilarious.

I had forgotten all about this one because I would have guessed that Tina lip-synched in her "Auntie Entity" character from the movie. It was cool to see her show off her "skills" on the ax too.

Who Does This Broad Think She Is?

I am a winsome muse who was sent to Earth to inspire an artist to turn a vacant building into the world's coolest disco roller rink. We fell in love along the way, and I foolishly gave up my immortality. When the disco craze ended and all the roller rinks were shut down, that lazy bum wouldn't get a job. We broke up and I was stuck on Earth with nothing to do and no one to inspire. So, now I write a blog.
