Forgotten Classic Video of the Week

There isn't much of a story behind this week's vid. I was thinking about possible Halloween costumes, which got me thinking about the year I dressed up as Cyndi Lauper, which got me thinking about how I've never posted a Cyndi video. How unusual!

Actually, it's not that unusual, considering that everyone remembers most of Cyndi's big hits, and this space is for the lesser known tunes or the big ones that slipped through the cracks of our collective memory over time. But I think I have just the Cyndi hit that fits the latter description - "Change of Heart" from 1986's True Colors.

I always loved this song, but I haven't thought about it in ages. Maybe you haven't either. So, enjoy!

Oh Cyndi Lauper, whatever happened to her.

I always thought she should date Boy George. They would have made interestingly dressed babies.

This sounds vaguely familiar, as if I heard it 20 years ago and haven't heard it since. I wish I'd known about this song when I did my Cyndi Lauper mix.

LOVE Cyndi!!! She still has an awesome voice. And I love this song, seems like it has stayed under the radar. Why, I don't know.

Great post!

I think Cyndi Lauper definitely qualifies for forgotten video territory.

You dress like her this Hallowe'en, the kiddies will have no clue who you are, sadly.

I bought True Colors specifically for this song. I remember seeing the video and thinking, "Holy shit! Cyndi can rawk!" (Because, well, this was "rawkin'" back in the mid-80s.)

Once Captain Lou stopped showing up in her videos, I allowed myself to admit to liking her music.

P.S. Those of us who owned the album enjoyed finding out that The Bangles offered the backup vocals for this song. This especially mattered to horny adolescent males in their early pubescent stages who drooled over Susannah Hoffs', um, eyes.

Cyndi will always be awesome. But my favorite Cyndi moment was when she was on Mad About You as "Mary Ann" Hee hee hee. I just LOVE the way she talks!

Great song and album. Cyndi was an underrated songwriter IMHO. Paula Abdul ripped this song off with Straight Up.

Go Steelers!

Thanks for the blast from the past. Here's one for you...

I remember, years ago, a trick or treater came to my door dressed like Cyndi Lauper and she looked so awesome that I didn't give her the generic candy, but the good chocolate candy bars. She WAS Cyndi.

Who Does This Broad Think She Is?

I am a winsome muse who was sent to Earth to inspire an artist to turn a vacant building into the world's coolest disco roller rink. We fell in love along the way, and I foolishly gave up my immortality. When the disco craze ended and all the roller rinks were shut down, that lazy bum wouldn't get a job. We broke up and I was stuck on Earth with nothing to do and no one to inspire. So, now I write a blog.
